There ia another problem with rubber moulds and that is that they shrink with age as well as the heat cycle during casting. THis shrinkage occurs with the hard rubber that is needed for metal casting but it is even more noticeable with the soft rubber that you can use for resin casting. The soft rubber reproduces more fine surface detail on a resin casting than can be obtained from metal cast in hard rubber but the soft mould will lose bits of rubber during de-moulding after fewer casts than the hard mould. It is best to make "daughter" masters from the early castings and to make a large number of castings while the mould is still young rather than cast "just in time" with a five year old mould, I make my masters in 1/1200 scale but produce castings in 1/1250 scale.
